Default How long have you had a battery last?

My original GS Ducati battery on my 748 failed today, just into its ninth year and never failed me once before.
Not bad hey?
Do they usually last that long before failure?
The battery guy seemed to think it was near impossible to last that long.

Longest survivor I have ever had in a bike was 3 years...... That being said the current one in my tricolore is just passing the 3year mark now so will have to wait and see.......... Mark, yours sounds like a minor miracle, not impossible but certainly amazing! I hope you are not dissapointed with your replacement.......

Was it by any chance kept connected to a trickle the whole time when not ridden?

I have a dry battery which is in its 5th year and it has never been on a trickle. No name brand, bought for like $15.

My 2004 Honda still has it's original battery, it's now well into its sixth year, and coming up on 30,000 miles. I've ran it down completely and had to bump start the bike a few times in there, too.

9 years? that is so amazing. Let us hope that you're replacement can last half as long. From what I read, 3-4 years is just about right. though I have read in other forums that a battery simply lasts them 1 year and half (848's, 1198's) some even failed right 2 days after the bike was bought ( check the multristrada forum) all I can say is it is simply amazing, definitely the longest lastign battery i have ever heard of

if you do electrolyte replacement it could last forever, however the keeping it on trickle and swapping acid is a pain, so I got a 123 cell battery. Similar to a speedcell. I used to do the acid replacement because I got the acid from my dad but it's not fun or safe really

Default battery life on Ducati

Like 2 years?

That's a typical battery. My BMW has a gel Odyssey, and it's 7 years old and counting!
