On my 848 the under decals under the clear coat are the ones on the tank.
I can't say if it's clear coated over or not. the only way I'd know is if I tried to pry it off, which I don't really want to try.

I can just tell the decal finish on the original fairing is glossy-ish, and the factory replacement is matte. It just seems odd to me that they're different.

So either the original 848 decal was cleared over, or the factory replacement sticker is a matte finish instead of being a gloss.

To make it very clear... 848 fairings do NOT have clear coated decals. Only 1098/1198 fairings have the additional clear coat.

Right you are lukeye my 2010 848 no clear coat(who cares anyway) I plan on changing them to the silver version anyway and this makes it easier.

Most bikes will have the decals on the tank clear-coated over, but the decals on the fairings will not be. That really is pretty standard.

Like I said the 1098/1198, s models, and r models all have clear coated fairings.

I'll also add some of the decals are different on the 1198 than an 848. Beside the obvious number '1198' on the side fairings, the tail has a different Ducati Tricolore bar on it (and under the clear coat).

I'm in the process of getting a white 1198 tail section painted red to go on my 848, so the decals under the clear coat are just another thing to worry about. I thought I got a deal on buy a used tail fairing, but after having what it costs to have it painted, I might as well have bought the OEM fairing from Ducati...

is there any possibility the fairing you got was repainted? this would explain why the sticker was under the clear? if not then maybe you just ordered the wrong sticker?
